Carlsen Chess – Power Surge at World Blitz in Astana
World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen is dangerous – very dangerous – when in form. At the recently-concluded World Blitz Chess Championship, Carlsen accelerated to straight eight wins on the final day. Even though it was enough only to get Carlsen to within half point of the eventual World Blitz Chess Champion Alexander Grischuk, the games were worth watching. Here is the World No. 1’s win over the World Rapid Chess Champion Sergey Karjakin. Karjakin later told Chess-News that Carlsen had congratulated him for the World Rapid Title saying, “He (Karjakin) deserved it.”

Carlsen and Karjakin – the New Age Rivals (Add Grischuk)
whoops – they are well matched twins
Maybe Carlsen would not get a little serious after his second place in both the world rapid and world blitz. He missed both by half mark which is a lot to speak for him. Another Tal Open this year would have been fun before the London Chess Classic. December is way too long to wait for.
Karjakin, Carlsen, and Grischuk added real star appeal to the recent world chess championship in blitz and rapid. maybe it was the format. i love blitz.
