Zurich Chess Challenge 2014 Rapid Games

Fabiano Caruana – Magnus Carlsen 1-0

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen won the Zurich Chess Challenge 2014 by the skin of his teeth thanks to a “surprise help” by Hikaru Nakamura’s win over Levon Aronian on the final day in the rapid section games. Levon Aronian was in second place – two points behind Carlsen before the start of the final round (of rapid games) on Tuesday. Carlsen scored badly only 2/5 and even though Aronian managed 3/5, he was unable to catch up with the World No. 1 in the final standings.
